Dr. Jonathan Dixon, Principal

Dr. Dixon is excited to join Chesterfield County Public Schools as principal of Matoaca Middle School. Dr. Dixon has served students in many capacities over the past 20 years in education. Dr. Dixon has served in Durham Public School as a school bus driver, 4th grade teacher, and administrative intern. He then served Mecklenburg County, VA Public Schools as assistant principal of South Hill Elementary School, principal of Park View Middle School, and principal of Mecklenburg County Middle School. 

Dr. Dixon earned his undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and Master of School Administration from North Carolina Central University. He earned his Educational Specialist and Doctor of Education in curriculum and instruction from Liberty University.

Beth Morris, Associate Principal

Beth started her career as an English teacher in New Hampshire before moving to Virginia. Over her 15 year career in CCPS, Beth has taught at James River High School and Midlothian High School before joining the Providence Middle School team as a Dean of Students and, a year later, an Assistant Principal. Beth is passionate about building relationships with students, partnering with the community, and collaborating with staff and faculty to create great opportunities for kids.

Kimberly Chappell, Assistant Principal

Kim started her career as a mathematics teacher here at Matoaca Middle School in 2011. She moved into administration as Dean of Students and then Assistant Principal. Kim believes in the potential for all students to be successful and strives to provide the necessary support for every student during the transitional middle school years, as well as working with faculty and staff to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment for every child.

Kevin Clear, Dean of Students

Kevin started his career in Hopewell Public Schools as a middle school math teacher. After serving in the City of Hopewell for 7 years, Kevin came to Matoaca Middle School as a math teacher in 2019. He moved into administration during the 2021 – 2022 school year as Matoaca’s Dean of Students. Kevin is solutions driven and works to create a positive teaching and learning experience for teachers and students. Kevin is proud to be a part of the Matoaca Middle admin team and to serve the students of the Matoaca community.
